I probably wouldn't have bothered to read this if it hadn't been for the reading group - and what a deprivation that would have been! Called "The greatest mystery story" (or words to that effect), I'm not sure I would agree, as the plot is somewhat contrived. But the writing is absolutely
delicious. One of the sentences I most loved was one of Miss Drusilla Clack's worthy charities: "The British-Ladies'-Servants'-Sunday-Sweetheart-Supervision Society". And many
more. Unmissable!
